From Darkness to light

...I couldn't really hack it in the real world! I didn't really know myself for the longest time.

It was fairly innocent at first, just smoking cigarettes and then it started getting more and more like the street life scene. I got into heavy drinking, LSD, lots of it, until I eventually just started losing my mind! It was not me, I knew that. My conscience was always telling me that this is not for you, but eventually I hit rock bottom.

Living in darkness took it's toll on me

Many things happened that really scared me into recognizing that this lifestyle was just leading me to my grave. Fortunately, I had parents that were praying for me all along. That had a lot to do with why I didn't die. This whole thing was just a lifestyle that didn't want me. Quite frankly, I didn't want it either. There were several times where I would awaken in the morning after getting real drunk and felt heavy depression. On one of these occasions, I had an experience. I felt this heavy darkness, like a wave coming upon me and then I heard a small voice saying: "Go with God". I listened to it, but of course I was stubborn and it was just nine o'clock in the morning, so I went out and bought a mad dog 20/20, to escape from my pain.

FInding God saved me from a life of despair

This experience kept happening for about a week. Then one day I was at my parents house and that darkness came back. I just couldn't take it any more and that's when I decided to give my life over to the Lord. You can't find yourself in anything in this world, because the only way to find your true identity is through the one who created you. That's the way to go. If you're fed up with that way of life, then totally commit your ways and the rest of your life to following God and you'll see yourself being changed, totally. Your friend, Eric
